[nectar_dropcap color=”#1e83ec”]O[/nectar_dropcap]ur 2nd winter in Utah is coming to a close, and spring is right around the corner. While I’m excited to get back on the motorcycle, I’m sad to see the snow disappear. I got a late start on snowboarding this year. I haven’t been too active on the mountain since we left Idaho, but this year I was able to get hooked up with a season pass to Sundance (thanks again T-Rob!), and my childhood winter passion was in full force.
Working at the mouth of Provo Canyon allows me to zip up to the resort and ride for a couple hours before I head home. I am nowhere near as good as I was 2 years ago when I was riding 2-3 times a week but the muscle memory came back to me slowly.
Tonight a 2 min Mnt Dew commercial for Peace Park 2015 came across my social feed and caught my attention. After watching the video through twice, I was blown away by the simpleness of these guys riding styles. Take a look for yourself.
Go back and take a look at Ulrik Baderstader (0:45 – 1:03). I love this guys style. His simple Buters and Jibs come across so naturally. I wish I could shred with this kind of style. While he makes it look so easy and spins around so naturally, that type of skill comes with a lot of time mastering the craft.
So here I am again, blown away and inspired by guys mastering their craft. They’re adding their originality and creativity to something that has been done for 20+ years. Taking elements from surfing and street skating, and bringing them to snowboarding and the mountain. Constantly evolving the sport and how riders approach their runs. They get a round of applause from me tonight.
The mountain is calling, and I must go.
